Hi, I’m Mary Dunne
It all started when I watched the documentary “Heal” on Netflix. No, really!
It was April 2019, I was flying to Florida for the Easter weekend when I tuned into the documentary. Fascinated by what I discovered. Stories from spiritual leaders, physicians, and those with chronic illnesses revealing the powerful connection between the human psyche and physical health. The power of our minds to heal ourselves. I became fascinated with Dr. Joe Dispenza and Peter Crone, the Mind Architect, and it was at this time when I realized our environment really can affect our health and wellbeing.
You see I had been suffering from knee & feet issues for over a year. Running around NY selling real estate was not easy, I was completely burnt out. A torn meniscus to the right knee was just the start of it. Recovering from that procedure my doctor at the Hospital for Special Surgery told me I also needed a partial left knee replacement. I was too young to be feeling so old. My body was suffering from inflammation brought on by the stresses of my everyday life. On a metaphysical level, I knew my legs were telling me it was all about me moving forward in my life. You see my marriage of 23 years was over, my boys were graduating High School and heading off on their Freshman year to 2 different colleges. Big changes all around. My active mothering years were coming to a close. I found myself at a crossroads in my life.
I realized I was feeling very uncertain about my future. I was completely free to explore what I needed for me. So after the boys were settled into their new campuses I took a solo vacation to Ibiza to spend time with a great friend. That trip gave me time to think about my life. I could stay doing what I’d become accustomed to or I could listen to my gut and try something completely new. I choose me over New York. I choose Mary in the Med.
It was November 2019 when I was brave enough to try a new direction. Deciding to take this sabbatical, traveled from NY to this transformative island in the Mediterranean. Known for its creative energy I started to enjoy the art of writing. During the lockdown, while the world as we knew it was changing I found it helpful to go within and be introspective. Journaling became my thing and then the notion to bring this blog to life.
And here I am today. I’m Mary in the Med curating a lifestyle. Just over a year since I made my decision to change life completely. I have some vision for where I want to take this blog and as time evolves it will become clearer for me. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy my sharing as this chapter of Eat, Pray, Love comes to life out here in the Mediterranean.
